Wiley X Rx News!

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

Our company annual picnic was last Sunday. We had many of our vendors visiting us that day. Our representative from Wiley X lab was visiting and she gave us a small training on all the Wiley X sunglasses.

If you are looking for smaller frame sunglasses, then I would definitely recommend Wiley X XL-1 sunglasses. They are very petite and will fit men and women who are looking for smaller sunglasses. If you are looking for a larger frame, then you should definitely try Wiley X SG-1 sunglasses. We got to play with all of these frames and it is amazing what they can do. You can, pretty much, bend the frame in any way and it will not break, it will not even bend. They are very flexible and very comfortable to wear. Not only that you will feel great when wearing Wiley X, but they will also protect you from all the dust and wind.

When it comes to ordering Wiley X prescription sunglasses, you have to keep in mind that higher prescriptions will not work in most of the frames due to a frame curve. However, Wiley X SG-1 sunglasses will take higher prescription.

Since Wiley X sunglasses are made for military, sports and motorcycle riding, don’t forget that you can also order Ray Ban sunglasses and Serengeti sunglasses with your prescription if Wiley X is not the style that you are looking for.

How to Protect Eyewear Lenses from Scratches.

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

Get sunglasses with glass lenses. Glass is known not only for its outstanding optical properties, but also for the scratch-resistance. A lot of eyewear brands offer their signature glass lenses – Serengeti and Ray Ban are some of them. If you need vision correction, some eyeglasses frames can be fitted with Rx glass lenses as well. Though I would not recommend glass if your eyeglasses prescription is high as the lenses will be thick.

tipps_zur_reinigung.jpgIf glass isn’t an option, make sure that the lenses are treated with a special coating to prevent scratches. Some lens materials like polycarbonate have scratch-resistant coating built-in, some materials like CR-39 don’t. CR-39 requires an additional anti-scratch coating to be applied on top of the lens. If you buy sunglasses, you can check with a sales rep what the lens material is and if the lenses have anti-scratch protection. When buying prescription eyeglasses, you can request an additional anti-scratch coating.

Use a cotton lens cloth to clean the lenses. Avoid rubbing them with a paper towel as it can leave micro-scratches on a lens. Also try to keep your sunglasses in a protective case when you are not using them. A good quality pair of sunglasses or eyeglasses from a decent brand usually comes in a protective case or a pouch and is accompanied by a cleaning cloth.

If you take a good care of your eyewear, it will leave longer.

We have competitive pricing at all times!

Optics Planet Eyewear CollectionLately, I receive a lot of questions about the prices for eyewear collection. People are asking why our prices are lower than other online companies and if that means that our glasses are not authentic. I just want to assure you that absolutely all of our sunglasses and eyeglasses are 100% authentic and come directly from the manufacturer. We are an authorized dealer for all our eyewear brands. Most of our glasses come with a 1 year manufacturer’s warranty depending on the manufacturer.

We do, however, try to have the lowest prices possible for our customers. Our prices are competitive, and most of the time, they are lower than other online stores. If you will find a pair of sunglasses or eyeglasses with a lower price than ours, then we will try to price match that price for you. We, also, offer free shipping with all orders over $29.95.

Feel free to check out our sunglasses collection and don’t forget that we offer prescription sunglasses as well. :)

4th of July is almost here!!!

Friday, June 12th, 2009

Happy 4th of JulyThis year’s 4th of July happens to be on Saturday. I am not sure if some of you will have Friday off since Saturday is a weekend. However, I am sure that it will be sunny and that most people will spend their whole day outside celebrating. It will be very sunny and uncomfortable for your eyes to be outside the whole day. This is a perfect time to buy sunglasses if you still don’t have any and still receive them on time for the holiday.

I want to introduce the most popular sunglasses that are always in stock and ready to ship to you at any time. Serengeti Aviator sunglasses have been popular for a long time and still are!! You will not go wrong with aviator style sunglasses.

Another great pair to consider is Ray Ban RB4091 sunglasses which are very shick and cool looking for this season.

And, don’t forget about Bolle Parole sunglasses which are great for sports and every day activities. The lenses are very durable and you will not have to worry about dropping the glasses and breaking the lens.

Happy 4th of July and remember not to drink and drive!! :)

Advantages of Transition lenses

Sunday, June 7th, 2009

Not too many people have perfect vision nowadays. A lot of people wear eyeglasses. However, all of those people have to have at least 2 pairs of eyewear: prescription eyeglasses and prescription sunglasses, especially if they leave in a sunny state like California. You need a pair of sunglasses when you are outside to protect your eyes from the sun and eye fatigue. I am pretty sure many people are already aware of transition lenses. However, I want to tell the rest of the people that there is a great alternative for having 2 different pairs of prescription eyewear.

Transition lenses are the lenses that darken when exposed to direct UV radiation (sunlight) and lighten indoors or in sunlight absence. Therefore, you no longer need to spend more money to have prescription eyeglasses and prescription sunglasses. Transition lenses fully darken under direct sunlight and perform just like any other sunglasses. Another advantage of transition lenses is that they will adjust to the lighting conditions. So, if it is not too bright outside but at the same time to sunny not too wear sunglasses, transition lenses will adjust to the condition for your eyes to feel comfortable.

Most of out prescription eyewear is avalable to order with transition lenses.I encourage everyone to, at least, consider transition lenses next time you will be buying prescription eyewear! :)

Bolle – Fashion & Performance Combination

Friday, May 29th, 2009

Bolle has always been known as a manufacturer of outstanding sports sunglasses. But should the great fashion-forward style be sacrificed to outstanding optics, performance and safety? Of course, NOT! And Bolle proves it with their new 2009 sunglasses collection and offers a great combination of state of the art optics, lightweight frames and unique styles.

A few years ago Bole introduced some bold designs like Bolle Belmont, Bolle Tease that were specifically tailored for women. The frames follow the latest fashion trends and are slightly oversized offering classy and sophisticated look. These sunglasses have been so successful, that this season Bolle decided to add a few more styles to the women’s collection including Bolle Ruby and Bolle Queen glasses.

Visit OpticsPlanet’s collection of Bolle sunglasses for the latest models. OpticsPlanet is an authorized Bolle dealer and sells only authentic Bolle eyeglasses, sunglasses, and goggles. You can also get your favorite Bolle frames with original Bolle prescription lenses – check out the Bolle prescription sunglasses collection for a full list of prescription sun glasses models.

Why spend more money on custom prescription eyeglasses?!

Monday, May 25th, 2009

We had a customer who asked why he should spend more money on custom made prescription eyeglasses if he can buy glasses in one of those large supermarket pharmacy stores and spend much less. I want to tell you all why it would be more beneficial to spend more now and save more in a long run.

As far as I know such stores sell only reading glasses that come with premanufactured lenses. The price usually varies from $15.00 to $20.00 and the magnification is the same in both lenses. These are “brand-less” glasses (it usually just says “Made in China” on the temples) with no warranty. As a matter of rule the lenses are made from the cheapest plastic material and in very rare cases are coated for UV protection. But you are getting what you pay for – a cheap pair of reading eyeglasses.

Please keep in mind that these glasses are good only for reading or looking at any close objects. If you have myopia, and/or astigmatism, or presbyopia; or if you have different prescription in the right and left eyes, you will need to order custom made eyeglasses or prescription sun glasses. You can either order the glasses from your optician or take the script and buy new eyeglasses from one of the prescription glasses on line stores like OpticsPlanet or Shoptics. Both on line and local optical stores usually specialize in designer brand-name eyeglasses and prescription sunglasses that stand for their quality and offer full warranty. They cost more, but you get authentic brand new designer frames with perfect optical Rx lenses. On-line stores charge much less than local opticians. And to tell you the truth, when you order from an optician your Rx lenses will probably be made by the same lab some on-line retailer uses. You will get the same quality buying from an on-line store much cheaper.

That’s definitely a personal choice. If you don’t need far vision correction and would like to have cheap reading glasses that you can carry in your pocket and put them on from time to time to read something, that’s a good option. But if you are looking for high performance, perfect optical quality, and maximum UV protection, welcome to one of the professional Eyewear Stores!

Serengeti Progressive lenses update!! – Part II

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

Hi everyone. I would like to give you heads-up. I have just met my Serengeti rep and he gave me more info on the new Serengeti NXT PhD Rx lenses they are going to introduce this summer. As I have already mentioned in my previous post, Serengeti Cornea Glass Rx lenses will be available in single vision form only. Prescription sunglasses with the new Serengeti NXT PhD Rx lenses will be available in both single vision and progressive forms.

I was informed that the new lens will feature the same optical quality and photochromic properties that the current glass lenses feature. The only difference will be that Serengeti prescription glasses with the new lenses will be lighter in weight and allow higher prescriptions. I will keep you posted ;-)
